Modern methods have changed that. Steel windows and doors are now galvanised or electroplated and then powder-coated, which gives a smooth, durable finish that holds up without an annual maintenance budget. You keep the narrow sightlines of steel and glass, and you lose the yearly headache.

Glazing that lasts

The glazing has moved on too. Instead of traditional putty, we use Nu-Glaze PVC beading, made to look like putty but far more durable, and the glass is secured with structural silicone. It is a cleaner, longer-lasting way to hold glass in a steel frame.
